The little aqua blue boxes that hold treasures are sure to get every heart racing with excitement as they are opened. Tiffany & Co is one of the most notorious and sought after jewelry companies in the world. Brigitte Kruse & GWS Auctions Inc is here to talk about how all of it started and share some of the history of Tiffany & Co.
Charles Lewis Tiffany & John B. Young
At the age of 25, Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young opened a stationary and fine goods store which sold fashionable goods for New York City’s women. They were first recognized internationally in 1867 at the Paris World Fair. Their fine silver craftsmanship was the first American design house to be recognized in such a stage. They were also the first to employ British’s 92% standard in silver. At the turn of the 20th century, the company had shops in London, Paris and Geneva.
The Tiffany Diamond
The Tiffany diamond came from one of the world’s largest yellow diamonds extracted from the Kimberley Diamond Mines in South Africa. The diamond was cut from 287-carats down to 128-carats with 84 facets. This diamond was more brilliant than anyone had ever seen and was called the Tiffany Diamond from then on.
Tiffany Engagement Ring
There isn’t an engagement ring that is more sought after than one from Tiffany & Co. The Tiffany engagement ring wasn’t introduced until 1886 and the way the setting highlights the brilliant cut diamond by lifting it into the light is spectacular. The “Tiffany Setting” is still one of the most iconic settings in the world of engagement rings all these years later.
High End Customers & Following
Throughout the tests of time, Tiffany & Co adorned the most elite and high class customers with their spectacular jewelry. The most prominent members of American society were often seen adorning Tiffany pieces which has always made the name even bigger.

Tiffany & Co has produced the Vince Lombardi trophy since the beginning of the Super Bowl and continues to do so today.
